Chain Reaction San Diego Car Accident Leaves One Dead, Four Injured

Many people think of car accidents as one occurrence – one or both drivers make a mistake, a collision ensues and the fallout period begins.  Unfortunately for anyone who has experienced it, many San Diego car accidents involve a chain reaction where one collision instantly leads to several others.  This appears to be what took place last night when a San Diego car accident took the life of one person and injured four other people.

According to police, the latest fatal San Diego car accident occurred just after 9 p.m. on Camino Del Norte at the intersection of Carmel Mountain Road.  A red Toyota was sitting at a red light at the intersection when it was rear-ended by a 57-year-old man who had been driving his vehicle at what police described as a high rate of speed in an eastbound direction on Camino Del Norte.  The man driving the Toyota that was rear-ended was killed as a result of this collision.  Other vehicles that were involved in this collision were either also stopped at the light or were preparing to stop.  The driver who hit the Toyota was arrested and booked for felony DUI.

California Car Accident Statistics

We’d first like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the man who was killed.  Losing a life simply because one is stopped at an intersection is truly unjust.  In addition, this alleged San Diego DUI accident will only add to the fatality statistics regarding California car accidents overall.  Every year, more than 3,000 people are killed in crashes, and at least one-third of them are recorded with alcohol being listed as a factor.
